Ten primary schools across the Windward Islands have been selected to participate in the EU-CaN Cultivating Futures: Empowering Youths for a Food Secure Region project. The schools were chosen following an application and assessment process involving 30 schools from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Saint Lucia and Dominica.
Funded by the European Union, the regional initiative seeks to strengthen food and nutrition security by engaging young people in ecological climate-resilient school gardening, nutrition education and practical learning experiences. The participating schools are:
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Bequia Anglican Primary School and Early Childhood Centre; Calliaqua Anglican School and Chateaubelair Methodist School
Grenada – Paraclete Government School; River Sallee Government School and St. Martin de Porres Catholic School
Saint Lucia – Augier Combined School and Ciceron Roman Catholic Combined School
Dominica – Soufriere Primary School and Bagatelle Primary School
Through their participation, the schools will help students develop practical agricultural knowledge and a deeper understanding of nutrition, environmental sustainability and food security. The project will also support stronger connections through school gardens, classroom learning and school feeding activities.
By empowering students, teachers and other members of the school community, the EU-CaN Cultivating Futures Project aims to nurture a new generation of advocates for sustainable agriculture, healthy eating and resilient food systems across the region.

The Cultivating Futures project is funded by the European Union under the EU-CaN Programme and implemented by the Zero Hunger Trust Fund in partnership with participating schools and national coordinating partners.
