A major milestone in youth empowerment and food security advocacy was marked on Thursday, 29th May 2025, as the Zero Hunger Trust Fund (ZHTF) and Girls’ High School formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the school’s annual public speaking competition.
The MOU establishes a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening the school’s Agricultural Science programme, paving the way for deeper collaboration in promoting sustainable agriculture and food security education. Under this agreement, the ZHTF will provide vital resources, technical support, and mentorship to help equip students with practical knowledge and leadership skills in food systems and sustainability.
The signing ceremony took place during the Andrea Bowman Public Speaking Competition, which this year spotlighted the theme of Food Security—a subject closely aligned with the ZHTF’s mission. The backdrop of the competition underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to youth development and the urgent global conversation on hunger and sustainability.
Speaking at the event, the ZHTF’s Chief Executive Officer—who also served as a distinguished judge for the competition—hailed the MOU as a concrete step toward building a new generation of informed, empowered agricultural leaders. She emphasized that partnerships like this one are essential to advancing national and global food security goals.
Nine talented students delivered insightful speeches on food security, demonstrating both passion and a deep understanding of the topic. The winners were awarded trophies, memorabilia, and other prizes, all generously sponsored by the ZHTF to further inspire excellence in public speaking and civic engagement.
As the ZHTF continues to champion food security through education and outreach, this new partnership with Girls’ High School stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through collaboration, commitment, and community investment.
