The partnership exemplifies a model for collaboration between the public and private sectors, focused on the common good. Local farmers will play a key role in supplying fresh fruits and vegetables to the beneficiary schools, namely Spring Village Methodist, South Rivers Methodist, and Fitz Hughes Government. This approach not only nourishes students but also provides a sustainable market for local farmers, strengthening the agricultural sector and building community resilience.

Safiya Horne-Bique, CEO of the ZHTF, emphasized the broader significance of the collaboration: “This partnership represents a pivotal step forward in our mission to reduce hunger and improve nutrition for vulnerable communities. The inclusion of local farmers in this initiative strengthens the economic and social fabric of our nation, while ensuring that our children have daily access to healthy meals.”

Since its inception in 2016, the ZHTF has supported 12 schools, with the school feeding programs, forming a key pillar of its strategy to combat hunger in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The partnership with VINLEC expands this effort to three additional schools, allowing the ZHTF to reach even more children and their families.
