Vincentian-Taiwanese linkage lend support to National Food Security Drive
The Zero Hunger Trust Fund (ZHTF), one of several entities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines welcomed a quantity of garden tools at a handing over ceremony from Ambassador of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the (ROC) Taiwan, Her Excellency Andrea Bowman and Ambassador of the (ROC) Taiwan to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Her Excellency Fiona Huei-Chun Fan. The ceremony was held at the Taiwanese Embassy at Richmond Hill on Tuesday 7th January, 2025, and was geared to provide support to persons affected by the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
The donation to the ZHTF was made to assist in the school garden initiative as part of the National Home and Community Garden Project (National Food Security Drive); and is a significant contribution from the charitable organisation – “Do for Love”, which comprises Vincentian students studying in Taiwan. This gesture was made possible through the support of both Ambassadors Bowman and Huei-Chun Fan.
The Chief Executive Officer of the ZHTF, Safiya Horne-Bique expresses her gratitude for the timely donation and noted that they will play an important role in advancing the National Food Security Drive.
The other beneficiaries of various supplies include: the Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation, the Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment, the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), Nine Morning’s Committee within the Ministry of Tourism , Civil Aviation, Sustainable Development and Culture amd the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Cycling Union.
